UBMS Summer Bridge Coordinator Serve as the primary liaison between Bridge students (first-year college students transitioning into a post-secondary environment). Leading students in the successful transition from high school to college. Responsible for fostering a sense of
community
among the Bridge cohort as well as coordinating Bridge meals, speakers, workshops and activities. Duties include but are not limited to: introducing participants to campus resources, coordinating group service-learning activities, planning and delivering success seminars on a variety of topics (study skills, test taking strategies, stress management, communications skills, etc.) Directing students to academic support and tutoring resources. Maintaining communication with college personnel as it relates to student financial aid, transferring course credit, and purchasing books; academic and holistic student advising; implementing early academic intervention strategies; maintain electronic program records; Bridge resource binder; assist students with success in credit-bearing courses. Requirements: Earned Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university. Experience/Qualifications Requirements: Proven leadership experience; Preference given to candidates with previous Bridge or pre-college program experience. Keen organizational skills (filing, keeping student records, completing projects on time) Desire to work with a diverse group of first-generation, college-bound students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Must be a self-starter and problem-solver willing to help students with complex admissions, financial aid and college transition circumstances. Must be a team-leader, yet possess the ability to work well within a team. High level of maturity, motivation, and responsibility is required. Ability to develop positive working relationships with students, faculty, and staff. Will be required to complete FBI/BCI background clearance process. Licensure or Certification Requirements: Valid

Driver License Preferred Qualification: Candidates having overcome similar barriers and challenges as Upward Bound Math Science students. Experience working with other pre-college, Trio, Bridge programs or learning communities useful. Knowledge of admissions, financial aid and advising best practices. Excellent writtten and oral communication skills; Excellent group presentation skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of students and staff. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
