Position Summary The Communications and Special Events Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of all fundraising special events and advancement communications for Malone University.
This position develops event plans and coordinates sponsorship arrangements with businesses, individuals and organizations interested in supporting Malone's events and activities.
II.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities 1.
Planning, implementation and follow-up for all special events.
2.
Planning, implementation of communications strategy and execution in partnership with University Relations.
3.
Manage all aspects of volunteer event and communications committees as well as volunteer coordination, including but not limited to, staffing, recruitment, supervision, training and acknowledgement.
4.
Responsible for silent auction, prize and in-kind donation solicitations for events with the help and guidance of development officers.
5.
Cultivate and expand sponsorship development and fulfillment with the help and guidance of development officers.
6.
Supervise and coordinate with event contractors.
7.
Establish and expand merchandise opportunities.
8.
Assist the Director of Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement and the Vice President for Advancement and staff in other fundraising programs and communications needs as necessary.
9.
Maintains the confidential nature of client and business information.
10.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
11.
Track events in Raiser's Edge and coordinate with the Advancement Operations team on the setup, tracking, and data extraction of event information from Raiser's Edge.

Bachelor's degree in related field required.
5.
Prior experience in the higher education environment is helpful but not necessary.

The ability to master new computer-based systems promptly and proficiently.
7.
A current valid driver's license as some local / regional travel will be necessary.
8.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
10.
Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
11.
Excellent project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.
12.
Ability to meet deadlines.
13.
Ability to coordinate multi-faceted projects with minimal supervision and high initiative in a deadline driven environment.
14.
Proven effective relational and collaborative skills are also required.
15.
A proven ability to maintain high levels of professionalism.
16.
Hours per week are anticipated to vary based on the needs and fluctuations of the fundraising and events cycle.
17.
Occasional evening, weekend and commitments may be necessary at times.
18.
Knowledge of fundraising management and special events planning.
19.
Knowledge of communications and social media trends for nonprofits.
20.
Knowledge of volunteer recruitment, engagement and management.
21.
Knowledge of computers, online platforms necessary to execute events and communications plans, and the required software.
22.
Ability to be open minded to new and unique ways of doing business to meet and exceed annual goals and objectives.
23.
Ability to communicate and respond to the needs of volunteers and donors to meet or exceed their expectations.
24.
Ability to motivate and guide staff and/or volunteers to complete expected work- plans in a timely and accurate manner.

Ability to establish and maintain positive, cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of collateral resources.
